ATLAS Trip Planner

Overview

Atlas is a voice-first travel planning concept built at the edge of Journey's roadmap (not assigned or tracked, just for funsies). It reimagines planning as narrative: a trip that takes shape the way a good story does: "chapters spoken" into being, rather than assembled across a dozen tabs.

The Challenge

Travel planning hasn't meaningfully changed in twenty years. You still open a tab, start a spreadsheet, and try to hold the whole trip in your head. The tools are transactional, the experience fragmented. Atlas began with a provocation: what if every step of planning built excitement — as if the trip had already begun?

The Solution

Atlas opens with a voice, not an input field. You describe the trip out loud — two weeks in Japan, spring, quiet reconnection — and the world map answers, drawing you down into the itinerary it heard. No search bar, no empty fields: the first interaction is a conversation, so planning starts with intent instead of logistics. Each city becomes a chapter. Kyoto, Hakone, and Tokyo surface as panels of curated hotels and local experiences, selectable without leaving the flow, while routes draw between them on the ever-present map — keeping the trip spatial and grounded instead of trapped in a list. Atlas Insight, a quiet editorial voice, closes each chapter with timing-specific context: cherry blossom peak falls across your exact dates; the Arashiyama bamboo groves are quieter before 8am. An estimate strip tracks cost in real time, itemized detail one tap away. The final beat is the Financial Orchestrator; a checkout reframed as a decision. Rewards surface as visual cards, a live interactive donut chart shows the cash-to-points split, and a single slider lets you dial between them.

The Result

A fully interactive, AI vibe-coded prototype using Claude, Netlify, Figma & Figma Make, Mapbox API, and Replit ready for a backend and build setup. I'm excited to continue to play and grow Atlas into a viable travel tool.
